Owner of new coffee shop in Mauchline reveals opening plans

John Bryson has taken over the former Mossgiel Snug coffee shop at The Cross, which is being rebranded as Aroma At The Cross.

He is already in charge of two Aroma coffee shops in Galston, after taking over one of the shops in 2018.

Since then, John has been looking the expand the Aroma brand as part of his business plan, which led him to taking over the Mauchline shop.

Once it opens, the new coffee shop will serve customers seven days a week, from 10am to 4pm

John said he was looking forward to welcoming local residents to the coffee shop.

He told the Chronicle: "This felt like the natural next step and it was something I wanted to do as part of my business plan.

"You just never know what's going to happen, especially when Covid happened, so I'm really looking forward to this.

"In terms of when it will open, I'm hoping it will be the end of January or the very start of February. The sooner the better to be honest."

John's initial step into the Aroma world was a leap of faith, but since then, he's never looked back.

He added: "My background was actually as a supervisor in Debenhams and then one of my friends fell pregnant and decided to sell her shop, so I took the leap and bought a business.

"This new shop will be very similar to what the other shops are in terms of what they'll sell.

"For the first wee while, we'll just see how things go and what the customers want, but I'm really looking forward to getting it up and running.

"We're planning on having an opening night when we set an opening date, just so we can get people into the shop and create a wee bit of an atmosphere for the place."
