A former Glenafton Athletic star made his debut for a Scottish Championship side this week after only leaving New Cumnock the day before.

Luke McBeth signed for The Glens from East Kilbride in the summer.

After impressive performances at Loch Park and training with Partick Thistle for the past few months, the Glasgow side confirmed the 24-year-old's signing on Monday.

McBeth has joined on an initial 18-month deal, with Thistle holding the option to a further year.

As part of the deal, a first team Partick Thistle side will face Glenafton in a pre-season friendly in the summer.

Speaking about the new signing on the club's website, Thistle manager Kris Doolan said: “I’m pleased to bring Luke to the club as he is a player who has a lot of quality. He’s been in training with us, with the blessing of Glenafton, for a couple of months now and we’ve been very impressed with the attributes and quality that Luke has.

“Luke reminds me of myself in terms of his pathway from part-time lower league football into the professional game and he has everything that he needs to be successful in the modern game.

"Luke has left his mark on the squad and management team, and when the opportunity became available to add Luke to our ranks, it was an easy decision for me."

Luke went straight into the Partick Thistle squad for Tuesday's match with Queen's Park, as he made his debut, coming on as a sub in the 92nd minute.
