Cumnock Chronicle: Brass

Eleven year old Lindsay Roxburgh of Cumnock was crowned the West of Scotland Solo Brass Champion. The championship took place in Sturrock Street Halls in Kilmarnock in December 2003 and Lindsay competed in the under 12 age group. Lindsay played cornet in the school brass band and the Dalmellington Junior Band.

Cumnock Chronicle: St Patricks

St Patrick’s Primary School in Auchinleck received excellent reviews following a 2003 inspection by HM Inspectorate of Education. An inspector said ”the school provided a very good experience for its pupils. The positive ethos pervaded all aspects of the life of the school”.

Muirkirk Boys Brigade were raising funds for a skiing trip at their 2003 Christmas Fayre. Ross Muir and Bobby Hill took part in the putting challenge.

Cumnock Chronicle: Auchinleck Nursrry held a Divali celebration in December 2003

Auchinleck Nursery had their very own Diwali celebration in December 2003. The children made clay divas and pasta jewellery as well as watching a Diwali video and sampling the tastes of India. Many of the children dressed up in saris and Punjabi outfits for the occasion.
