Labour ward staff at the Ayrshire Maternity Unit at Crosshouse Hospital recently received a generous donation from the members of Kilmaurs Masonic Lodge.

The lodge held a sportsman's dinner in October where £2,200 was raised, which was then donated to the unit.

Colin Currie, lodge treasurer, said: “We are delighted to be able to present the cheque from our recent fundraising to the staff at Ayrshire Maternity Unit.

“The Lodge held a sportsman’s dinner on October 27 this year, and it was decided that all the proceeds from this event would go to the maternity unit at Crosshouse.”

Colin Currie, Robert McCorriston and Charles Calder from the Masonic Lodge visited the labour ward to present the cheque to some of the nursing staff.

Claire Bryce, Senior Charge Midwife, added: “On behalf of the Ayrshire Maternity staff, I want to thank the members of Kilmaurs Masonic Lodge for their generosity and to everyone who contributed to the fundraising.”
