Drivers are being advised to plan ahead as Openreach work begins in Cumnock next week.

From Monday, December 4, Openreach will be carrying out work at the T Junction where the A70 meets the road towards Skares.

It’s part of local broadband upgrades to give more homes and businesses access to ultrafast, full fibre broadband.

The works will take place from 8am to 5pm, starting on Monday, and should be complete within three working days.

Traffic lights aren’t needed but operatives will be at the site to manage traffic using Stop-and-Go boards.

Openreach say that around 60 per cent of properties across East Ayrshire can now connect to their new full fibre network, with four out of five Cumnock households and businesses already able to upgrade.

An Openreach spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for any disruption to drivers while we install and test new fibre cables to bring ultrafast broadband to more local people.

"We’d advise drivers to plan ahead and leave some extra time for their journey, and thank them for their understanding.

"We always aim to complete works as quickly as possible.”
