A Christmas event in Catrine is set to make its anticipated return this weekend.

Organised by the village's community council, Make Catrine Sparkle is a volunteer-led annual event for the local community.

Returning on Sunday, December 3, the event will involve a lantern parade, pipe band performance, Christmas market, a visit from Santa, and much more.

The event also has a Santa’s Grotto, Christmas Light Switch-On, music, LED displays, and a fireworks finale.

Cumnock Chronicle:

Catrine Community Council (CCC) say it will be a low-noise firework display that will take place for around five minutes at 8.30pm.

The free event runs from 4pm-9pm this Sunday.

Tracy Smith, secretary of Catrine Community Council, said: "Cost of living has skyrocketed and we would like to reach as many families as possible as this may be an affordable festive evening for them to enjoy.

"This year we have a ‘Christmas Market Village’, with traditional market stalls and a variety of indoor stalls placed in a large marquee located in Mill Green and food vendors and a funfair so everyone can enjoy the fun.

"We had our first lantern making workshop last Saturday. The lanterns will be used in the parade and everyone is welcome to walk in the parade on December 3."

A CCC spokesperson added: "We're passionate about nurturing our community's voice. The community’s feedback fuels our commitment to grow and improve this cherished tradition.

"With your support, we aim to expand the event, welcoming more volunteers and enhancing the experience for everyone.

"From maintaining and enhancing our Christmas lights to providing free lantern workshops, every donation counts toward creating lasting memories for our community.

"By donating you’re helping us uphold the legacy of Make Catrine Sparkle—an annual celebration that unites us all in a unique, joyous experience.

"Your donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference in preserving this loved tradition. Thank you for helping Catrine Community Council continue to Make Catrine Sparkle!"
