PLANS for a new office building on an empty site in the centre of Auchinleck which was previously earmarked for two houses have been lodged with council bosses.
Applicant Aviva Pearson is asking East Ayrshire Council for permission for the single storey development at 185A Main Street, to the rear of the building which formerly housed Auchinleck Post Office and law firm G. Tierney & Co.
In the formal application to the authority, Ms Pearson says: “A previous application was submitted in August ’23 for two dwellings.
“This was withdrawn. An application for a different use/design was suggested by the agent.”
The application also states that the site was formerly home to a two-storey brick warehouse which was demolished around 10 years ago, since when the site has lain vacant.
A deadline of Tuesday, January 16 has been set for a decision on the proposals, which can be viewed on East Ayrshire Council’s planning website by searching for the application code 23/0609/PP.
