Plans to build a new home and demolish the existing buildings on a plot of land in Muirkirk have been withdrawn.

Initially lodged with East Ayrshire Council back in March by JKM Consultancy, the plans would have seen the home built on the corner of Main Street and Carruthers Park.

The project would have included the demolition of the current house and the workshop space to rear of it.

In its place, a new two-bedroom home with garden space and two parking spaces would have been constructed.

A planning report attached to the initial application read: "The proposed development will comprise a single dwelling with the associated driveway and garden grounds.

"No evidence of invasive plants, (e.g. Japanese Knotweed or Giant Hogweed) was apparent at the time of the walkover.

"The site has been the subject of past land usage with the potential to result in local ground contamination."

Despite the plans meeting no initial objections, the application was withdrawn at the request of the applicant.
