A section of the A70 near Ochiltree is set to be closed off two weeks for resurfacing works, according to roads bosses.

An announcement apparently sent to local councillors and community council from Ayrshire Roads Alliance shows that a portion of the A70 between Ochiltree Main Street and the Mote Toll will be closed.

Preparation works are set to begin on the road from Wednesday, November 29, taking place until the following weekend.

The traffic is set to be managed by Convoy Operations and Temporary Traffic Signals during this time.

A full closure of the section of the A70 will be in force from 8am on Saturday, December 2 until around 8pm on Sunday, December 3.

The road will then reopen during the week, with the closure set to be in place once more between 8am on Saturday, December 9 until 8pm on Sunday, December 10.

The road may reopen before this, depending on when work is completed. Work is also weather dependant and delays are possible in the event of extreme weather.

An official 35-mile diversion route to accommodate all vehicles will be signed via A70 towards Dettingen Roundabout , A76 towards Crosshands, A719 to Sandyford Toll Roundabout , A77 to Holmston Roundabout, A70 towards Ochiltree, and vice versa.
