A ROAD in Muirkirk leading to a popular walking route in the area is to be shut for more than two weeks, roads bosses have announced.
Furnace Road, which is used by walkers to access the car park at Cairn Table, will be closed during the day to allow for carriageway resurfacing to take place.
The full length of Furnace Road, from its junction with Main Street, will be shut from 7am to 5pm from Wednesday, November 8 until Friday, November 24.

The road is expected to be open outwith those times.
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, which is responsible for road resurfacing in the area on behalf of East Ayrshire Council, says the days and times of the works may be dependent on the weather, but the order will be implemented only when the appropriate signs are displayed.
The roads body says emergency services access will not be affected and access for residents, deliveries and pedestrians’ outwith the working zone will be maintained whenever possible and safe to do so.
