One person has been taken to hospital following a three-car crash on the A76.

Rush-hour traffic was affected between the Bellfield Interchange and the Bowhouse roundabout following reports of a crash on the morning of Wednesday, October 17.

Traffic Scotland had said that access along the road was restricted in both directions, but it has since been cleared and traffic is now running as normal.

Emergency services were seen at the incident.

Police Scotland have now confirmed that one person has been taken to hospital as a result of the crash, with enquiries ongoing.

A spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a crash involving three vehicles on the A76 between the Bowhouse and Bellfield roundabouts at Kilmarnock around 6.45am on Tuesday, 17 October.

"One person has been taken to hospital and the road has since fully reopened.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

The Scottish Ambulance Service have also been contacted for comment.
