A four-day weather warning is in place across Ayrshire for later this week.

Storm Babet is set to hit the UK later this week, with Ayrshire set to feel the effects of it.

A Met Office yellow warning has been issued across the area on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday - October 18-21.

The warning for heavy rain says there is a chance of flooding in some areas and dangerous driving conditions could be possible.

It adds that there is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.

The latest warning comes little more than a week after torrential rain struck many parts of Scotland, with some areas seeing a month's worth of rainfall in the space of 24 hours.

The latest warning affects all of southern Scotland and large parts of the central belt, as well as northern and eastern England, from Wednesday, spreading to the north-east of Scotland, the Highlands and the Northern Isles from Thursday onwards.
