The brilliant team at Brighten up Kirkconnel and Kelloholm has been awarded its third consecutive gold medal for all its hard work in the area.
In a further boost, the group won a Gold Medal Certificate, Best Small Village Trophy and Community Involvement Award at the Beautiful Scotland Competition.
The Beautiful Scotland awards give a chance to put the spotlight on the teams looking to brighten up their local areas across Scotland.
Brighten up Kirkconnel and Kelloholm claimed the top prizes at a recent ceremony at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh.
A delighted Gary Hughes, chairman of the group, said: "We are extremely proud of our achievements at this year's competition and to be recognised at Scotland's prestigious competition.
"I would like to thank everybody from the wider community who have all helped us in various ways.
"Thanks to the Brownie and Cub groups for all their help in the Environment Projects, Mrs Wark's P2/3 Class at Kelloholm Primary School and the ARC members and staff, and finally Heathhall Garden Centre, Dumfries, who supply our bedding plants each year."
The report which led to the gold prize was full of praise for the group.
It read: "Brighten up Kirkconnel is the local group that looks after all the floral enhancements in the village.
"They also work closely with other local community groups and the local council to keep Kirkconnel looking good and an attractive community to live in.
"A mass litter pick was held in April, and during the visit to Kirkconnel everywhere looked tidy and litter free.
"As a whole, the group, with others, are working well to keeping Kirkconnel a good place to live."
