A resettlement event for those who have come to East Ayrshire was held last week.
Provost Jim Todd, elected members and officers from the council met with Syrian, Iraqi and Afghan nationals who have resettled in the area.
The special event was held in the Howard Centre last week.
Guests had the chance to sample traditional dishes from some of the families’ home countries which were prepared with the help of members of East Ayrshire Council’s catering team.
Some of the people who have resettled in East Ayrshire spoke about their experiences of living in Scotland and certificates were presented to English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) learners by Blair Millar, the council’s head of housing and communities.
Gifts were also presented to families who have now lived in East Ayrshire for over five years before chief executive Eddie Fraser brought the event to a close.
East Ayrshire Council said that a fantastic time was had by all.
