A man has been taken to hospital after a report of an assault in Mauchline.
Police responded to reports of an incident near The Cross in the town, shortly before 1pm on Wednesday, July 26.
Eye witnesses claimed to see splatters of blood on the pavement near to where the alleged assault took place.
A 54-year-old man was taken to hospital.
Police Scotland have launched an investigation and say they are following a positive line of enquiry.
A spokesperson confirmed: “Around 12.50pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, we received a report of an assault on Kilmarnock Road, Mauchline.
“A 54-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.
“Enquiries are ongoing and officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”
