A CHARITY fun day and open day is being held at New Cumnock’s community fire station this weekend.

Retained firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will be on hand for the ‘Burgers, Blue Lights and Bouncy Castles’ event this Sunday, July 16.

Attractions at the event will include vintage firefighting vehicles, a ‘Beat the Goalie’ competition, face painting, a barbecue, a chance to ‘soak the firefighters’ and more – while Police Scotland’s traffic unit will be there too.

Donations made will go to the Fire Fighters Charity, which provides a wide range of support for the mental, physical and social needs of serving and retained firefighters and their dependents across the UK.

Sunday’s event runs from 11am until 2pm. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to come along and find out more about the station and its crew.
