A GROUP of selfless staff from a charity's supported living scheme in Catrine have organised a wonderful weekend fundraiser for Ava Bolton.

The team have planned a fundraising football match and evening of entertainment to take place in New Cumnock on Saturday, June 10.

They will be supporting Ava's family, who were devastated by the news that their daughter was been diagnosed stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma.

They are now looking to raise £250,000 to get treatment for three-year-old Ava in the United States.

And when John Scott, a senior support worker at Catrine Bank services, heard about Ava's battle, he knew just how to help out.

This year, it was decided that the event would be held in a bid to contribute towards the "Help for Ava" campaign.

And with the help of John's colleagues Ryan Scott and Chris Young - support was given by the National Autistic Society to hold this year's charity game.

Another colleague, John Houston, vounteered to source a suitable venue for both the match and evening of entertainment that will follow - and the stage is now set for a great day of fundraising.

Thanks to Glenafton Athletic the match will take place at Loch Park in New Cumnock - with the night time events to take place at the adjacent Campbell Hall - with both facilities provided free of charge.

The football match will kick off at 2.30pm on Saturday and will see two teams from National Autistic Scotland services - a 'Ryan Scott select' and a 'John Scott select' - face off against .

Afterwards, the entertainment will be provided by Brian Hunter from 6.30pm.

Tickets from the event can be purchased for £5 by contacting John on 07581 348810 or can be bought 'on the door' at the event.

And already the event has had great backing, with the local New Cumnock community council windfarm fund pledging a £1,000 donation.

While Ava's father, Scott Bolton, and uncle, Robert Moore, will be pulling on a strip for the match - with Ava due to be in the crowd to cheer them on.
