ROAD closures are on the way again for Mauchline, with railway bridge repair works beginning this weekend.

Several closures will take place as the work begins on the bridge on Ayr Road, lasting from Saturday, June 10 to Monday, June 19.

The work dates are:

From 10pm on Saturday, June 10 until 8am on Sunday, June 11;

From 10pm on Sunday, June 11 until 6am Monday, June 12;

From 10pm on Friday, June 16 until 6am Monday, June 19.

The longer closure on the second weekend is to allow beams to be removed and replaced on the bridge.

The days and times of the works may be dependent upon the weather conditions. Emergency Services access will be maintained.

Due to the nature of the works local access will be via a diversion route from the B743 Ayr Road along the B740 Montgomerie Street, the B744, the A76 Kilmarnock Road and the B743 Loudon Street, and vice versa.

Stagecoach West Scotland says that during the times the road is closed, their 43 and 343 bus services will divert between Garden Street, Tarbolton and Mauchline Cross using the B730, the A719, Crossroads and the A76.

The normal route between Garden Street, Tarbolton and Mauchline Cross will not be served during these dates, and the bus operator says that delays are expected due to the length of the diversion.
