PLANS for an extension of a wind farm near New Cumnock are to go on display to the public at two events this month.

RWE Renewables UK is looking to expand its Enoch Hill wind farm, around 6km south-west of New Cumnock, by building two new wind turbines and associated infrastructure, including battery storage.

The firm says the proposed new turbines will have the same approximate dimensions as those already in place at Enoch Hill, where 15 turbines are already in place, and will be around 149.9 metres tall to the tip of the blade if permission is granted.

The company has announced two 'drop-in' events as part of a 'pre-application consultation process', when members of the public will be able to view the firm's proposals and speak to members of the project team about the plans.

The events take place at New Cumnock Bowling Club on Wednesday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 28.

Both events will run from 2pm until 7pm and people can drop in at any time to find out more.

A project website has also been set up at rwe.com/enochhill2.

Anyone unable to attend this month's public events can also have their say by emailing enochhill2@libertyone.co.uk or writing to RW Renewables UK, c/o Steven Livingston, Liberty One, SPACES, 1 West Regent Street, Glasgow G2 1RW.

The closing date for consultation responses is Wednesday, July 5.

A formal planning application has yet to be submitted to East Ayrshire Council for the project.
