A CALL has gone out to people interested in applying to become an on-call firefighter at Mauchline's community fire station.

The station say it has formally adopted the term ‘On-Call’ to further describe their retained and volunteer duty system Firefighters.

On-call fighters will carry a pager and respond whenever needed to protect their communities.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the role can go along training nights on Tuesdays from 6.30-9.30pm at the Kilmarnock Road station.

A representative from the station said: "We at Mauchline community fire station are actively looking for on-call firefighters.

"If you are interested you can go on to my job Scotland and fill in the application.

"Also feel free to ask any crew members about what’s involved within the role as a firefighter or ask to come and visit us at the station through Watch Commander Johnathan Sharpe or Crew Commander John Cartner.

"We have our weekly training night on Tuesdays from 1830-2130.
