Green-fingered East Ayrshire residents can now nominate the greatest gardens in the region.

The council's 2023 garden competition is now open for nominations.

The competition is open to anyone living in East Ayrshire with a garden, no matter how big or small, which is maintained by themselves and not a professional gardener.

There are prizes and trophies up for grabs. Last year's winners were presented with their trophies and awards at a special ceremony held at the Burns Monument Centre.

The judging will take place across the three housing areas of Cumnock and Doon Valley, Irvine Valley, Ballochmyle and Kilmarnock South, and Kilmarnock Central and North.

A winner and runner-up are selected from a range of categories, including best council garden, best private garden and best planters or hanging baskets.

You can now also nominate a street, town or village that has improved significantly and become a more vibrant place to live and visit.

Nominations are available either by completing the online nomination form on the East Ayrshire Council website, or downloading a nomination form and emailing it to the Customer Liaison Team at CustomerLiaisonTeam@east-ayrshire.gov.uk

The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, July 7, 2023.

Judging will take between July 10 and July 28, 2023.

The winner of each category will be chosen by council officers from Housing and Greener Communities. The overall winners will be selected by Tenant representatives.
