Roadworks in Cumnock are due to be removed this weekend, according to the company carrying out the work.

SGN has been carrying out gas main repairs along New Bridge Street in the town for the duration of the week, with temporary lights placed near to the traffic crossing.

Drivers could have the road returned to normal as early as tomorrow (Saturday), with the road surface currently being repaired.

Waseem Hanif, spokesperson for gas distribution company SGN, said: "Our engineers have made great progress and have now completed repairs to our gas main in New Bridge Street, Cumnock.

"We’re now in the process of restoring the road surface.

"All going well, we hope to remove our temporary traffic lights, returning the road to normal tomorrow morning."
