A TEENAGER from Ochiltree raped and sexually assaulted a girl in the woods when both he and his victim were aged only 15.

Rhys Roberts was found guilty of the sickening offence after a trial at the High Court in Glasgow earlier this month.

The jury convicted Roberts, who is now 19, of raping and sexually assaulting his victim on May 31, 2019.

The charge against Roberts, of Broom Crescent in the village, stated that in a wooded area near Mauchline Road, he made threats to his victim before removing her clothes, seizing her body and pushing her head.

He then performed a sex act on the teenager and forced her to perform a sex act on him, and then went on to rape her.

Each of the acts caused his victim to sustain injuries.

Roberts also coerced the victim into being present while he performed a sexual act upon himself.

Following the jury's majority guilty verdict, Roberts' was remanded in custody after his bail was revoked.

He is due to be brought back to court for sentencing at a later date.
