ANOTHER new date has been identified for the completion of much-delayed roadworks on the A76 near Mauchline.

Work on the southbound carriageway at the Howford Bridge, between Mauchline and Auchinleck, was due to be completed on Friday - having got under way in February.

The May 5 completion date was itself a delay, with the completion of work having been pushed back twice, first to April 7 and then to April 14.

Just 24 hours before the latest completion date, however, Amey announced that the May 5 deadline would not be met - and that the roadworks would continue until "late May 2023".

It now appears, according to the Amey website, that the work is due to be finished by Wednesday, May 31.

A spokesperson for the company had said: "Ongoing repairs on the A76 at Howford Bridge have been extended due to unforeseen operational challenges with completion scheduled for late May 2023.

"Favourable weather conditions are required to undertake the current programme of repairs.

"Adverse weather may impact the delivery of this scheme programme.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
