Drivers will be faced with a 45-mile diversion along a busy road close to Muirkirk next month.
Ayrshire Roads Alliance will be carrying out essential road resurfacing works on a stretch of the B743 Muirkirk to Strathaven Road.
Starting on Tuesday, May 9, the work is set to last up to eight working days, until May 19.
A road closure will be implemented on weekdays only between 8am and 6pm.
The affected area is from and including the junction of the U731 Greenock Water Road to the boundary with South Lanark.
A signed diversion route will be in place via B743 to Strathaven, A71 to A719 Galston onto B7037 to B743 continuing through Sorn to A70 Muirkirk, before re-joining the B743 Muirkirk to Strathaven Road and vice versa.

The works are weather dependent and road opening times may be delayed if there is adverse weather.
The order also has a maximum duration of 18 months, but it's hopeful it will be completed within the set timescale.
Emergency services access will not be affected and access for residents, deliveries and pedestrians outwith the working zone will be maintained.
