AN AUCHINLECK man has appeared in court charged with violently assaulting his ex-girlfriend and another woman.

Blake Gemmell is alleged to have injured his former partner by striking her head off kitchen cupboards.

He is also accused of having permanently impaired and disfigured a second woman by stamping on her and kneeing and kicking her.

The 30-year-old has also been charged with assaulting a police officer, shouting and swearing, and making threats and derogatory remarks.

According to the Crown, all the alleged incidents happened at an address in Barbieston Road in Auchinleck on March 13, 2022.

Gemmell, of Milne Avenue, Auchinleck, denies all the charges against him.

It's alleged that he seized his ex by the hair, dragged her along the floor and struck her head off kitchen cupboards.

The charge states he also punched her repeatedly on the head and body to her severe injury.

The alleged offences were aggravated because they involved a partner or ex-partner.

It’s further alleged that Gemmell assaulted a second woman by repeatedly pushing her on the body and seizing her by the hair.

It's claimed he kicked her and struck her on the head and body with his knee.

The Crown’s indictment accuses him of stamping on the second woman’s body and states that the alleged assault resulted in the second woman being severely injured, permanently impaired and permanently disfigured.

It’s also claimed that he punched his ex repeatedly on the body on another occasion on the same date – with this offence again aggravated because the alleged victim was his former partner.

A fifth charge on the indictment accuses him of spitting on the face of a police officer.

Gemmell pleaded not guilty to the charges during a ‘first diet’ hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Bail was continued and he will return to court at a later date.
