A CUMNOCK company has delivered the first six amenity blocks to a new amenity site for Traveller families.

Connect Modular, part of The Wee House Group, based on the Caponacre industrial estate, has constructed the new facilities for the Clinterty Travelling Persons Site.

Connect Modular's houses are constructed off-site in their Cumnock factory where they are completed to ceiling height and pre-fitted with kitchens, bathrooms, plumbing and electrics.

The houses are then transported to site and craned into position for the final construction works to be completed.

These amenity blocks will provide essential services to Traveller families, including kitchens, bathrooms and store facilities.

They were transported to the site on flatbed trucks and the blocks were then lifted into place using a crane and connected to utilities at the site, which is located nine miles north-west of Aberdeen.

The £5.45 million project is jointly supported by Aberdeen City Council and The Scottish Government Gypsy/Traveller Accommodation Fund and is being delivered by Aberdeen City Council, MTM Construction and Connect Modular, who are constructing the amenity blocks serving 21 pitches.

Richard Reid, acting CEO at Connect Modular, said: “We’re delighted to have delivered the first six amenity blocks to site.

"We look forward to the continued delivery of these blocks over the coming weeks and months and share excitement for the local area, seeing the amenity blocks craned into position, almost ready for use."
