Robert Burns Academy pupils joined the team from Vibrant Communities for a residential stay at Barcaple Outdoor Centre in Castle Douglas over the Easter break.

Pupils from Kilmarnock, Grange and Loudoun academies also attended.

The young people worked hard to complete a Dynamic Youth award, overcoming personal fears by joining outdoor activities including canoeing and abseiling and pushed themselves to work with new people, helping to build their self-esteem and confidence.

Two pupils from RBA, Sam and Sophie, delivered a successful workshop for their fellow pupils.

Robert Burns Academy was represented by Sam, Sophie, Joey, Ellie, Eric, Eryn, William, Ben, Carley and Lisa.

Councillor Jim McMahon, Cabinet Spokesperson for Housing, Welfare and Poverty, Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Addiction and Recovery said: “I was delighted to hear about the successful Easter holiday programme and residential stay led by Vibrant Communities. Our young people did themselves, their schools and their families proud. A big well done to you all.

“I would also like to congratulate Sam and Sophie from The Robert Burns Academy for delivering a successful team building workshop for their peers.”
