An Albanian man charged with being in possession of indecent images of children in Cumnock is awaiting deportation back to his home country, a court has heard.

Selfie Senani, 27, pleaded not guilty to charges of downloading and possessing the images when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court.

It's alleged that the accused made indecent images or pseudo-images of children at an address in Car Road, Cumnock between January 5 and February 27, 2022.

A futher charge alleges that he was in possession of the same types of image between January 5 and March 5 last year.

Mr Senani faces a third charge accusing him of being in possession of extreme pornographic images - though not involving children - between January 6 and March 4, 2022.

Defence solicitor John Ian Gillies told Sheriff Shirley Foran: “He is an Albanian national due to be deported. He has been contacted by immigration on March 10.

“He obviously wants this dealt with as soon as possible and to get back to Albania.

"The trial is likely to be one day.”

Mr Senani will return to court to face the charges at a later date.
