CUMNOCK boss Brian McGinty says he’s taking full responsibility for the tactical decision that led to Auchinleck Talbot snatching all three points in Saturday’s derby clash at Townhead Park.
The sides were locked at 2-2 three minutes into stoppage time when Aaron Mason snatched a vital third for the visitors, who would eventually go on to win 4-2.
McGinty tried to shuffle his defensive pack for the set-piece that led to Mason’s goal but admitted afterwards that he’d got it wrong.
Speaking to the club’s media team he said: “Jamie [Conn, second half substitute] is not defensively minded but he’s done the right thing and gone back, but the boy’s got a wee run on him to cross the ball. So I’ll take responsibility for that. With a better decision from myself it probably ends up 2-2 or we go on and hopefully snatch a winner.”
It was a disappointing end to the week for Cumnock, who picked up a fine three points on the road with a 2-1 win over Clydebank at Holm Park last Wednesday.
A busy spell for Nock continues when Troon visit Townhead Park tonight (Wednesday, KO 8pm), before a trip to struggling Arthurlie on Saturday.
