PUPILS from two East Ayrshire primary schools have been brushing up on their sporting chances at a residential camp.

The P7 youngsters from Dalmellington Primary and Patna Primary travelled to the Inverclyde National Sports Training Centre in Largs recently for sessions in gymnastics, handball and team building - as well as making lots of new friends during the course, which lasted for two days and two nights.

And, as is the case with any trip to Largs, there had to be time to fit in a visit to the seafront for an ice cream - with the midweek winter chill not appearing to put anybody off!

The £12m Largs centre is the first UK residential sports facility of its kind and regularly plays host to pupils from all over the country.
