THE organisers of a popular Ayrshire triathlon event have confirmed details of the event’s return for 2023.

The Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club will be hosting the Irvine Open Water Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, June 4.

Entries are open now for the event, which will be held in the stunning surroundings of the Shewalton Woodlands Trust and the Ayrshire coast along what the organisers describe as a “flat(ish)” course.

The triathlon will begin with a 750m swim around the Shewalton Pond, followed by a 20km cycle around two laps of a route from the pond to Irvine Harbour.

The final leg of the race is a 5km ‘out and back’ run on paved and forest paths through the Shewalton Woods.

Entrants can be either male or female, and will be split into adult (20+), junior (17 - 19) and youth (15-16) categories - while, in a new venture for 2023, a team relay option is now available.

The event will be concluded by the club’s famous post-race buffet.
