A concerned mum has said that damp issues in her home are becoming a concern for her children's health.

Living in a council house in Logan, the mum, who doesn't want to be named, said she has contacted East Ayrshire Council to raise her concerns a number of times.

After initially sorting the issues, the woman said that the same problems came back in the same places - and now she's battling to have them sorted for good.

The woman claimed that council workers told her not to sit anything close to the affected walls, as this could be a problem.

After listening to this advice, the mould and damp problems continued.

Now the concerns are for her daughters, herself and her husband.

She said: "We also have mould on the window sills that constantly need bleached. We have mould on our bathroom ceiling and bedroom ceiling that my husband has to scrub and bleach regularly.

"Rooms are ventilated daily and also heated well too. It is absolutely horrendous.

"We've worried so long about what damage this does to our health and our kids' health."

She added: "It has meant that we aren't sure of our future in this property.

"It also makes me reluctant to have them carry out other works. It seems like the promise of the 'improvements' to the house has definitely been a major disappointment."

East Ayrshire Council said they did not have any plans to revisit the property.

However, after receiving the Cumnock Chronicle's enquiry, they went back to the home, with another visit scheduled for tomorrow (Friday, March 3).

Neil McCulloch, Service Manager, Housing Asset Services, East Ayrshire Council said: "We do not have any current repairs within our system for this address in relation to dampness and mould.

"However, on receipt of your enquiry we have visited the property today to establish the circumstances and have arranged for a further visit on Friday, March 3. We will now work with the tenants to provide a suitable resolution."
