Two superstar Littlemill Primary School pupils in Rankinston have been doing their bit to tackle some environmental issues in their community.

The youngsters have been learning about some of the issues facing the planet.

As a result, two champion pupils took it upon themselves to get out into the community and clear up some of the litter that had collected.

Such was their investment in what they had learned in the classroom, the pair decided they wanted to put what they learned into practice.

"The children know that we may not be able to save the world, but we can take small steps to make a start to doing that.

"Amy McDougall and Carson Cooper, both in Primary 6 decided to go out into the community and pick up litter. They then emailed their pictures to me.

"I am so proud that they have taken this upon themselves to go out and tidy the community and have taken their learning outside of the classroom!".
