A driver has been reported for almost hitting a police officer with her car whilst driving on the A76.

The 45-year-old woman was driving close to Bargower Riding School, on Mauchline Road, where police were directing traffic due to a broken down vehicle.

Police say that the woman 'failed to observe' officers who were stopping and directing traffic.

They added that the woman 'narrowly missed' an officer who was directing vehicles around the breakdown.

As a result, the woman is now the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal for a number of alleged road traffic offences.

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Please remember you must stop your vehicle when instructed by a Constable in uniform; this is for your safety and the safety of all other road users who may be assisting Police at the incident."
