King Charles paid his first visit to East Ayrshire this week since succeeding to the throne.

According to the daily court circular, which tracks the royals' movements, the King attended a reception for British Muslim faith leaders participating in the Mosaic Leadership Programme at Dumfries House on Wednesday, January 18.

His Majesty then received Sir Ian Cheshire (chairman of the Prince of Wales's Charitable Fund) and Ms. N. Jeffery (the fund's chief executive officer) at Dumfries House.

Then on Thursday morning, the King held a meeting at Dumfries House for The Prince's Trust and The Prince's Trust International.

Afterwards he received Dame Susan Bruce, chair of the Prince's Foundation, and Emily Cherrington, the foundation's acting chief executive.

That evening he welcomed Jane Hartley, the United States' ambassador to Great Brtain, and then held a dinner at the historic house for representatives of the UK's diplomatic corps.

The historic home was bought by The Prince's Foundation - set up by the then Prince Charles - in 2007.

He visited the house, and the area, on many occasions during his time as heir to the throne, and was hosting an event there the day before the Queen's death in September.

The King has previously stated: “Dumfries House has a very special place in my heart for all sorts of reasons, and I look forward to working for many more years within this wider community and beyond in continued effort to do what I can to help in this part of Scotland.”
