TWO mums were left terrified when thugs smashed the windows of the parked car they were sitting in last night in Auchinleck.

The incident happened close to Auchinleck Academy at around 8pm last night, when a car allegedly stopped close to the Leisure Centre before firing something towards parked vehicles.

This caused damage to at least one car that was parked there, leaving the two mums inside extremely shaken up.

Principle Teacher at LE Dance Fusion, Eleace McConnell, asked for help on Facebook to find out if anyone saw anything, after being told that CCTV cameras in the area did not work.

The mums inside the damaged car said the incident all happened very quickly, but that the vehicle involved could have been dark in colour and then raced off in the direction of Sorn and Catrine.

Eleace said that her dance class was due to finish minutes after the incident happened, and that police could not see what had caused the damage to the car at the time.

Posting her plea for information on Facebook, Eleace said that, sadly, but understandably, they will be looking to take their dance classes elsewhere.

She said: "The safety of my pupils and parents is paramount and after tonight's [Thursday] incident we’re on the look out for a new hall around Cumnock/Auchinleck area on a Wednesday evening.

"Any information regarding tonight's incident please report to the police and I encourage anyone with door bell footage on Sorn Road Auchinleck, (heading towards Catrine/Sorn) around 8pm to do so as well."

Police say that enquiries are ongoing to figure out who was involved in this incident.

A spokesperson said: “Around 8pm on Thursday, 19 January 2023, police received a report of a window of a car being smashed with an unknown object whilst parked within the car park of Auchinleck Academy, Sorn Road, Auchinleck.

“No one was injured and enquiries are ongoing.”
