Schools and nurseries are being urged to sign up to a special initiative which aims to improve children’s wellbeing.

The Daily Mile gives youngsters the chance to be active through regular 15-minute sessions of outdoor exercise to promote positive physical and mental health.

A number of local schools have already taken part but organisers want more to get involved during 2023.

They will be joining four million children at thousands of schools and nurseries across 90 countries who have signed up.

Elaine Wyllie, founder of The Daily Mile, said: “It is staggering to see how this initiative has grown into a global movement in a little over 10 years.

"Being active is key for everyone’s health and wellbeing.”
