A man has appeared in court charged with leaving someone scarred for life by repeatedly stabbing them at a house in Cumnock.

Kyle Young, 31, appeared in court last week in connection with an incident in Herdston Place.

It’s alleged that Mr Young, described in court papers with a current address of HMP Kilmarnock, assaulted the man after brandishing the blade at him on April 30, 2022.

The Crown’s indictment alleges that Mr Young repeatedly struck the man on the body with the knife to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

When he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on January 4, defence solicitor Robert Logan said Young was pleading not guilty to the charge.

He was returned to custody and will be back in court to face the charge at a later date.
