The next stage of Patna's £1.3m water investment will be completed by mid-February, the utility company says.

The £1.3m investment will aim to ensure customers can continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water.

Scottish Water’s in-house delivery team are leading the project, along with their main contractors Caledonia Water Alliance.

Having started on Tuesday, May 3, the final phase of the first section of work finished at the beginning of November.

Further work will be carried out, but not before contractors on site take a break for the festive period, between December 23 and January 4.

Road closures will then be in place on different sections of Stewart Place for two five-day spells next month - from January 16-20 and then from January 23-27.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "We are replacing 8.1km of water mains in Patna to provide increased resilience on the network.

"As with all projects of this nature, our works programme can be subject to change due to factors outwith our control.

"Unforeseen circumstances, such as ground conditions and uncharted services, have caused some delays.

We are now expecting to have the works completed by mid-February 2023.

"The site will also close for the Christmas period on Friday, December 23 and work will recommence on Wednesday, January 4.

"We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused and we thank all customers for their patience and understanding as we deliver these essential upgrades."
