A YOUNG man slapped his better half’s friend after a drunken fall-out with his partner led to him turning up later shouting and swearing.

First-offender Keiran Wales, 23, admitted charges of assault and threatening behaviour on September 24 this year at Westpark Drive, New Cumnock, after the couple fell out on a night out.

Wales, of Arran Drive, Auchinleck, then assaulted a male friend before being arrested.

The Procurator Fiscal depute said: “The accused and complainer had been in a relationship since February this year.

“At 8.20pm the accused and complainer had been out at a bar. An argument occurred and they went their separate ways.

“The complainer was collected by a friend and returned to her home address.

“A short time later the accused attended shouting and swearing and demanding the complainer open the door, shouting ‘f***ing open this door’ while repeatedly kicking the door.

“The complainer contacted police then the accused managed to force his way in continuing to shout and swear, shouting ‘f*** up or I’ll hit you’.

“He then hit him [partner’s friend] on the head with an open palm.

“Officers attended and traced the accused and conveyed him to Kilmarnock police office.

“As he was cautioned and charged, he replied ‘I agree with that’.

Defence solicitor John Gillies told the court: “He returned to the address but was obviously locked out, he behaved badly.

“Mr Wales fully accepts it’s not the way to behave.”

Sheriff Siobhan Connolly said she would defer sentencing for social work reports asking him to ‘cooperate fully’.
