A fund-raising page has been created to help a Muirkirk company that creates marquees that are loaned out to the community.

Seán Maguire, who owns Skian Mhor and Mhorish in Muirkirk, says that the past two years have put a strain on being able to reinstate these marquees to their best conditions.

A total of £5,000 is needed for the total renovation of one roof of a large marquee, as well as four smaller roof repairs.

Seán said that business next year and in the years to come could be a struggle if he is not able to raise the necessary funds.

He said: "Skian Mhor and Mhorish are two small businesses that rely on our medieval wood and canvas marquees.

"Over many years I have loaned my marquees and smaller tents out to various groups and individuals within LRP and to local community events free of charge.

"These older styles of marquees suffer from regular deterioration and require maintenance and repair as the canvas wears thin, and accidents cause rips and even total destruction.

"I need to replace one large marquee roof and repair four other roof sections."

He added: "This will cost in the region of £5,000, which would normally come from our business funds but since suffering two years with zero income during Covid, I am struggling to raise the funds necessary to carry out the repairs.

"If I cannot replace and repair my tents this winter, I may no longer be in a position to help out the groups and organisations that have borrowed tents from me in the past.

"Please help me sort the tents and marquees so that you can all benefit from their use next year and for many years to come."
