A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of a wallet belonging to a New Cumnock man.
Heartbroken dad Scott McPike had sent out an appeal on Facebook on Monday evening (November 14) after the wallet, which he was gifted by his partner on behalf of their late daughter, was stolen.
Scott, who is originally from Ayr, said his wallet went missing at his work at SCS in Kilmarnock.
The wallet features a picture of Scott and partner Laura's daughter Mia, who they sadly lost back in May.
It was gifted to Scott from Laura on Mia's behalf as an early Father's Day gift.
Scott appealed for information on social media, with his plea being shared over five-thousand times on Facebook.
Now a 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the theft.
However, Scott said that there is still no sign of the wallet.
Taking to Facebook to share his gratitude, Scott said: "I can’t thank everyone enough in sharing this to help spread the word.
"It has been unbelievable to see the amount of people trying to help and to say I am overwhelmed is an understatement.
"[It] Really means the absolute world."
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed the man's arrest.
They said: "A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a wallet was stolen from a retail park in Kilmarnock on Monday, 14 November.
"He is due before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 16 November, 2022. A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."
