Over 300 young football stars will descend on Cumnock next week, as the local boys club hosts a youth festival.

Cumnock Juniors 2013s are putting on the show, with a full day of action-packed matches on Sunday, October 23.

The games will take place at Cumnock's Barony Campus pitches, from 9.30am.

Thirty two teams, made up of over 300 players, will give it their all in what should prove to be a brilliant day.

Teams will travel from across Ayrshire, as well as from Dumfries, Glasgow and Motherwell.

Cumnock Juniors 2013s coach, Scott Black was one of the brains behind the idea, and he's buzzing to see so many people come together and have an enjoyable day in Cumnock.

"We have the two full pitches at the Barony campus booked for Sunday, October 23," Scott said.

"We aim to have our first games kick off at 9.45am, with the last games just after 1pm. We have 19 teams attending from all over from Dumfries, Motherwell, Glasgow and a whole load of teams from Ayrshire attending.

"There will be 320 plus young players there on the day, and if all bring both parents and extended family, then you’re talking hundreds of spectators.

"This is why I’ve got the Barony Campus, who have very kindly agreed to open their cafe and kiosk plus we have a burger and donut van attending to cater for all on the day."

Scott was keen to reward everyone for taking part in the event, and he's had help from some local businesses to do so.

He added: "As we are the host team we’ve sorted it so every young player attending will receive a medal, with local business Donsport doing over 300 medals for us.

"We have also bought trophies for two fair play awards which, afterwards at the medal presentation, I will pick two teams to receive these trophies.

"It’s looking like it’s going to be a very busy but fun and active day for our youth".
