Angry Catrine residents have hit out at "people who think the world revolves around them" after more issues with dog fouling in the village.

Groups of locals have been attempting to clean up areas of the village and make it a more presentable place to be.

However, some people are not taking notice of this hard work, according to some other villagers.

"Every time you walk down the road, you're having to avoid someone's dog mess," said one resident.

"People are out their doing hard work in their own spare time to try and clean the place up a bit, and then you get these other people who think the world revolves around them.

"It really doesn't take long to clean up after your dog, does it?

"You'd swear we were asking some people to donate money or an organ or something. All we want is for people to take a bit of pride in the place that they live".

The East Ayrshire environmental crime team were out in Catrine earlier this week after receiving reports of a high level of dog fouling around the place.

They reiterated the message of bagging and binning any rubbish.

However it's not just the visual aspect that is upsetting the locals, it's also the hygienic side of things that are concerning some.

Another woman added: "You don't want your kids going out playing in a place where there's loads of dog dirt.

"You go round to the football park and you'll find two or three people who haven't cleaned up after thier dogs on the park.

"God knows what you might catch off something like, so god forbid it was a child or even another animal.

"People just need to take care".
