AYRSHIRE police are warning drivers to beware on the road as today's (September 30) severe weather takes hold.

A yellow weather warning is currently in place, and will remain so until around 2pm.

The strong winds and heavy rain have caused havoc for drivers, and fallen trees have affected many roads in Ayrshire.

One such disruption has come on the A736 Lochlibo Road which is currently blocked in both directions, just north of Burnhouse.

Diversions are currently being implemented at the B706 in Burnhouse and B777 in Lugton.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "If you are travelling you should ensure you and your vehicle are adequately prepared for the conditions making sure you have sufficient fuel and supplies such as warm clothing, food and water in the event you are delayed.

"Charge your mobile phone and plan your route as well as alternative routes.
