AN APPLICATION which will see the creation of six new amenity homes in Stevenston has now been approved by North Ayrshire Council.

The development will be situated at the site of former sheltered housing in Afton Court.

The application has seen the developer gain a certificate of lawfulness which means the planning authority have decided that the proposed development does not require planning permission.

The six homes will be comprised of two different blocks, of slightly different housing.

One block is planned to include two one-bedroomed homes while the second would be made up of four two-bedroomed houses. Both blocks of accommodation would be only 1.5 storeys high.

The application was submitted on behalf of North Ayrshire Council, as the planned homes are part of a social housing development.

This was was submitted almost a year and a half after the North Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership held their initial consultation on the development.

The application was received on August 19, validated on August 24 before the certificate was issue this week on September 27.
