A POPULAR Ardrossan store and takeaway which closed its doors for the final time last month will be put up for auction next month.

The owners of South Beach Stores, on South Beach Road, announced on Saturday, August 6 that the following day would be their last.

The owners stated that “rising running costs and costs of supplies skyrocketing gave us no choice but to pull the shutters down for the last time”.

The store was popular with Ardrossan Academy pupils as a regular lunch stop as well as with the wider community.

However, there could be hope on the horizon for the store re-opening, as it has once again appeared on the property market.

The property has recently been listed online with land and property auction house Future Property Auctions (FPA) of Glasgow.

The former store, which covers an area of 485 square feet, has been listed in the company’s online auction catalogue with a guide price of £81,000, with a deadline of Thursday, October 13 for bids.

In a separate FPA online auction, the former Barony St John’s Church building in Princes Street will go under the hammer on Thursday, October 6, with an anticipated opening bid of £48,000.
