ZAINS Curry House enjoyed a start of the week as good as it gets at The Food Awards Scotland 2022.

At the national ceremony on Monday, September 26, the Dalry takeaway scooped two awards - including one which saw it crowned as the best in the nation.

The popular Dalry Indian won the best takeaway award for not only the sout west region, but in Scotland as a whole.

It's far from their first award success either, for the takeaway which has occupied the town for over 20 years.

Just last year, Zains was named Ayrshire's best takeaway/delivery restaurant by the Asian Catering Federation.

The winner of the Best Takeaway of the Year for the in the south west region at the Scottish Curry Awards 2021 will also have another awards ceremony to attend soon - as a shortlisted finalist in the Just Eat best takeaway/delivery category in this year's Asian Restaurant Awards (Scotland).

This awards ceremony is due to be held at the beginning of next month (October).

Situated on New Street in the Dalry, staff from the takeaway said they "just can't believe" their most recent accolade.

Owner of the business, Khurum Jabbar, said that Zains has their amazing customer base to thank for their success - especially given the tough times had by all throughout the Covid pandemic and cost of living crisis.

He told the Herald: "It’s been a tough time these past few years with the pandemic and cost of living going up.

"We appreciate our customers so much for supporting us through all of this.. We wouldn’t be here without you all! We love our customers!

"Thank you so much for everyone who voted and we are gobsmacked by the reaction we have received in these past few years! All down to having amazing customers who keep us all going!"

Though it wasn't just the customers that Khurum wanted to thank, as he knows he has an excellent team working alongside him - particularly his father and head chef Abdul Jabbar, who he took the reigns from in 2020.

Khurum commented: "My father has been my great inspiration all my life, he pushes me to become the best version of myself.

"He’s the head chef of the takeaway and his authentic receipes have brought great joy to the community!

"He’s the rock of the family! We wouldn’t be where we are without him and our amazing team!

"From the chefs to the cleaning staff to the drivers. You guys are all part of the success, you guys make the business thrive more with your hard work and dedication. So a massive thank you to all the team."

Zains now has two outlets in Dalry, recently branching out to offer desserts as well as their traditional, fresh Indian food.
