A PROJECT set up to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is being extended to give people the chance to plant trees in Her Majesty’s memory.

The Queen’s Green Canopy was due to conclude in December – but as the official tree planting season in the UK is from October to March, the initiative will now be extended to include this full tree planting season, beginning in October 2022 and concluding in March 2023.

Individuals and community groups across Scotland have planted trees around the country – from single trees to complete new woodlands – as part of the project.

The organisers of the intiative say that the extension of the programme until next spring is in line with the wishes of the King, the charity’s patron.
